Naivasha - Kenya

Oserian Development Company is based in Naivasha, Kenya, at 1,890-1,920 meters above sea level. Oserian, “Place of Peace” in the Maasai language, is located on the Moi South Lake Road, Lake Naivasha. It is the largest flower farm of its kind in Kenya. Naivasha (originally E-Na-Ipasha) means “that which is heaving” or “that which flows to and fro”. The lake is an internationally acclaimed Ramsar site.

Established in 1969 as a vegetable growing farm, with a 5 hectare area of production and a workforce of six employees. Oserian commenced cut flower production in 1982, initially with the Statice variety and later was one of the first flower farms to start commercial Rose production. The flower growing industry in Kenya has since flourished and has developed beyond all expectations. Oserian today, with over 20 years strong growth, is a ‘leader in its field’ and the largest multi – crop farm in Kenya.

The total cultivated area for the production of flowers covered 225ha, of roses covers 98ha and spray carnations 107 ha.  Total product range consist of:

Employment / Housing
Approximately 5,700 employees with about 6,500 housed (including dependants).
80% of employees and dependants are housed on site. Oserian pays a housing allowance to those who choose to live outside of the estate.

Health Care
Oserian’s medical facilities include a clinic, a dispensary and an ambulance. Free treatment for Malaria and other disease diagnosis is available along with health education, family planning and HIV / AIDS counselling.
